Tesco HSC is one of the few campuses in India to completely change 2500 CFL lamps used for interior lighting to LED (Light Emitting Diodes) which have helped the firm to save 43000 units of energy and around Rs 21 lakhs per annum. Also, Tesco HSC has infra secure software on the desktops to hibernate the system when not in use bringing down the carbon footprints by another 100 tons/annum. Tesco HSC is running a wind turbine over a cooling tower of the central air conditioning system, and the power generated is used to illuminate the car park area of one building. The center also has rainwater harvesting wells, waste water treatment plants, algae retardants in the water bodies, solar water heaters in the gym and cafeteria, organic gardens and catalytic converters for generators on campus.
