With all the news of lay-offs and employees getting fired, we often wonder how are employees given this news? I read somewhere that the 'to-be laid-off' employees are just called to the HR department and told, "You have to leave!" Well, I hope this is not the case. Imagine the state of mind and shock the employee will be in.
Fine, they have been told about the situation and they have been mentally prepared for the same. Does this mean that the HR just calls and says please pack up. It's time to be booted off. I hope this is not the case.
Communication is importnat. Though most organisation's talk about the channels, I wonder if they use the right medium and way to say this to the employee, "Hey, you are fired!" I wonder if there ever is a right way to say this...
