Espionage in the corridors

by Ramiya Bhas 4/22/2009 2:53:00 PM

The entire idea of corporate espionage may sound a little far fetched, but it is known to happen. While many across India Inc. may fail to agree to this, it is a known fact that that are moles everywhere. Think about it, how do rumours spread, how does your boss know what you were talking about with a former colleague?

These instances may not prove that corporate espionage happens, but it is prevalent in companies. Random phone calls during the night, classified information leaked out, colleagues evesdropping....

So what do you do to save your self? Well, you can only do so much to protect yourself and the information, after that, its a whole new ball game!

Te truth is out there!

Ruling India Inc?

by Ramiya Bhas 4/17/2009 4:30:00 PM

With the upcoming election, many seem to be talking about how the new government will affect India Inc.? Will the new ruling party be able to get us out of the crisis? Will they convince our employers to give our pay hikes and salries back? Will the new govenment be assertive enough to help us land new jobs?

While these thoughts are yet to enter the minds of corporate India and the candidates, what is India Inc. suppose to do? We also vote but teh main question here is will our vote change our lives?

Governance? What would that be...

by Ramiya Bhas 2/28/2009 12:44:00 PM

I read an article in the Business Standard, where they have interviewed Narayan Murthy, talking about Coprorate Governance and the importance of it.

Well, after reading the first few lines of the interview, I wondered if it is a little too late for anyone to be talking about this. Yes, they all say that they believe in the best and they practice it. But apparently, experiences and instances tell us otherwise.

The need for corporate governance is high. And while most of us talk, who is listening?

Communicating lay-offs

by Ramiya 2/17/2009 11:45:00 AM

With all the news of lay-offs and employees getting fired, we often wonder how are employees given this news? I read somewhere that the 'to-be laid-off' employees are just called to the HR department and told, "You have to leave!" Well, I hope this is not the case. Imagine the state of mind and shock the employee will be in.

Fine, they have been told about the situation and they have been mentally prepared for the same. Does this mean that the HR just calls and says please pack up. It's time to be booted off. I hope this is not the case.

Communication is importnat. Though most organisation's talk about the channels, I wonder if they use the right medium and way to say this to the employee, "Hey, you are fired!"  I wonder if there ever is a right way to say this...

Where's the fun gone?

by Ramiya 2/17/2009 11:45:00 AM

There was a time when all we would hear is how fun at work is important and that how organisations are raising their fun quotient. However, does anyone realise that with the recent meltdown, global companies as well as Indian companies have stopped all talks on this topic.

One thing what most people tend to ignore is though times are bad, employees stil need to feel some fun at work, They come to office, mechanically work and leave. What has happened to all the talks of a fun work place.

I guess with teh recession and the nmeltdown, fun has also been laid off work. Just hope that it won't be to late for organsaitions to realise that motivation needs fun and that's one thing missing from work and workplaces
