Recently, the NASSCOM Foundation, the CSR wing of NASSCOM, has helped set up an animation training center in Sangli, Maharashtra especially for underprivileged women. The center, set up by the Suraj Foundation, Sangli has been created with active support from the NASSCOM Foundation under its Poverty Alleviation Programme - an initiative created with the specific purpose of increasing livelihood options for women, adolescent girls & youth from underserved and marginalised communities in rural areas and urban slums. The objective of the Poverty Alleviation Programme is very clear - it is built to increase the incomes of underprivileged women either through employment or self employment, and to thereby instill a sense of purpose and self-confidence in them.
